A mop is a handy tool people use for cleaning. It's usually made of pieces of cloth or a sponge attached to the end of a long stick. Mops help us keep floors and other surfaces sparkling clean!
There are two main types of mops you might see:
- A wet mop is what you use to clean a floor with water and soap. It's great for scrubbing away dirt and spills.
- A dry mop (sometimes called a dust mop) is used to pick up dust, hair, and small bits of dirt without using water. It's perfect for a quick tidy-up!
History of the Mop
Did you know the modern mop has an inventor? A well-known inventor named Eddy Key created the mop on June 13, 1893. His invention made cleaning much easier for many people!
