Mora is a cool town and a municipality in Toledo province, Spain. It is part of the autonomous community called Castile-La Mancha.
Mora is well-known for the old ruins of the San Marcos de Yegros monastery. This monastery belonged to the Order of Santiago. It's located about 10 kilometers northeast of Mora, in a small village called Paraje de Yegros.

What Does the Name "Mora" Mean?
The name "Mora" might come from the Latin word morum. This word means "mulberry" or "blackberry."
However, some experts, like Galmés de Fuentes, think it's even older. They suggest the name comes from a very old, pre-Roman word mor. This ancient word meant "heap of stones" or a "cairn" (a pile of stones often used as a marker).
Where is Mora Located?
Mora is located in the Montes de Toledo, which are a series of mountains. It's also part of a larger area known as La Mancha.
The town shares its borders with several other municipalities. To the north, you'll find Villamuelas and Huerta de Valdecarabanos. To the east are Villanueva de Bogas and Tembleque. South of Mora are Turleque, Los Yebenes, and Consuegra. To the west, it borders Orgaz and Manzaneque, and to the northwest is Mascaraque.
