History of Morley
Morley was officially planned and laid out in 1868. The city is named after J. H. Morley, who was an important official for the railroad. A post office, which helps send mail, has been operating in Morley since 1869.

In 2010, the city of Morley had 697 residents living in 284 households. About 195 of these households were families. The city had a population density of about 871 people per square mile.
Most of the people in Morley were White (about 95%). A smaller number were Black or African American (about 1.15%), Native American (0.43%), or from two or more races (3.44%). About 1.72% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.

Education in Morley
The first schools in Morley were built around 1915 in the southeast part of the village. A new high school was built in 1940. Students attended this high school until 1959.
In 1959, the Morley schools joined with the Vanduser schools. This led to the creation of Scott County Central High School. The new high school building was constructed on Highway 61, south of the village near Kluges Hill.
