Moscow is a small town, called a borough, located in Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, in the United States. In 2020, about 2,039 people lived there. It's about 11 miles (18 km) southeast of Scranton and 24 miles (39 km) southwest of Honesdale.

How Moscow Got Its Name

Moscow was settled in the 1830s. People say it was named after the famous Russian city. Early settlers, who might have been Prussian Lutherans, chose the name.

The borough covers a total area of about 2.8 square miles (7.3 square kilometers). Almost all of this area is land. There is very little surface water. A stream called Roaring Brook flows north through Moscow. Many smaller streams join Roaring Brook here. This brook is part of the larger Lackawanna River and Susquehanna River systems.
