Mostafa Pour-Mohammadi (Persian: مصطفی پورمحمدی) was born on March 9, 1960. He is an Iranian politician and a prosecutor. He has held several important jobs in the government. For example, he was the Minister of Interior from 2005 to 2008. Later, he served as the Minister of Justice from 2013 to 2017.

Early Life and Education
Mostafa Pourmohammadi was born in Qom, Iran. This was in 1960, though some reports say 1959. His father came from Rafsanjan, and his mother was from Yazd.
He studied Islamic jurisprudence and philosophy. He attended the Haqqani School in Qom. He continued his studies in Mashhad, Qom, and Tehran. He earned a high-level degree in Islamic law. This degree is similar to a PhD.
Political Career
Pourmohammadi started his career as a prosecutor. He worked in different Revolutionary Courts from 1979 to 1986. These courts were in cities like Bandar Abbas and Mashhad. In 1986, he became a prosecutor for the Armed Forces Revolutionary Court.
In 1987, he became the Deputy Intelligence Minister. He worked under Minister Hojjatoleslam Ali Fallahian. He also led the ministry's counterintelligence section. From 1997 to 1998, he directed the ministry's foreign affairs. His time as Deputy Intelligence Minister ended in 1999.
He also served as acting Deputy Minister of Information. This was from 1997 to 1999. He was also a member and head of the board for the Center for Islamic Revolution Documents. In 2003, Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader, appointed him. He became the head of the political and social department in Khamenei's office.
Minister of Interior
On August 24, 2005, Pourmohammadi became the Minister of Interior. President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad appointed him. The Iranian Parliament, called the Majlis of Iran, approved him. He received 153 votes in favor. He worked to help refugees during his time in this role. He attended a meeting about refugees in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2006. He left this position in May 2008.
Head of General Inspectorate and Minister of Justice
After that, Pourmohammadi was appointed head of Iran's general inspectorate office. This office checks how government agencies are working. He wanted to run for president in 2013. However, he later decided not to. He supported another candidate, Manouchehr Mottaki, instead.
On August 4, 2013, President Hassan Rouhani nominated him. Pourmohammadi was chosen to be the Minister of Justice. The Majlis confirmed his appointment on August 15. He served in this role until August 2017. He was not part of President Rouhani's second government.
Health During COVID-19
During the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran, there were reports about Pourmohammadi's health. Some news said he was taken to the hospital. He reportedly had symptoms of coronavirus. Later, he tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. This is the virus that causes COVID-19. He was later released from the hospital.
2024 Iranian Presidential Election
Pourmohammadi ran as a candidate in the 2024 Iranian presidential election. During his campaign, he tried to show himself as a moderate conservative. He also spoke openly about Russia's actions. He criticized the decision to keep helping Russia in their invasion of Ukraine. However, he did not win the election. He received less than one percent of the votes in the first round.
