What's the Story Behind Mount Bonython?

The Mount Lofty Ranges, which include Mount Bonython, are special to the Kaurna people. They are the original people of this land. Their stories tell us about an ancestor-creator named Nganno.

Nganno's Journey and the Mountains

According to Kaurna mythology, Nganno traveled across their land. After a battle, Nganno was hurt and lay down to rest. When Nganno lay down, their body formed the Mount Lofty Ranges.
