Mount Furuhelm is a mountain peak in Alaska. It stands 3,620 feet (about 1,104 meters) tall. You can find it on Baranof Island, right next to another peak called Peak 5390. Its exact location is 57°03′00″N 134°55′47″W / 57.05000°N 134.92972°W / 57.05000; -134.92972.

Why is it Called Mount Furuhelm?

Mount Furuhelm was named after Johan Hampus Furuhjelm. He was also known by his Russian name, Ivan Vasiliyevich Furugelm.

Johan Furuhjelm was an important leader. He served as the governor of an area called Russian America. This was a time when Russia had colonies in parts of North America, including Alaska. He was governor from 1859 to 1863.

The Two Peaks of Mount Furuhelm

Mount Furuhelm is interesting because it actually has two peaks! These two high points are less than a quarter mile apart.

The western peak is slightly taller. It reaches 3,620 feet (1,104 meters). The eastern peak is just a little bit shorter, at 3,610 feet (1,100 meters).
