Mount Jagungal is a famous mountain in New South Wales, Australia. People sometimes call it Jagungal, Big Bogong, or The Big Bogong Mountain. It is located inside the Jagungal Wilderness Area, which is part of the amazing Kosciuszko National Park. This park is in the Snowy Mountains region.
Mount Jagungal stands tall at 2,061 meters (about 6,762 feet) above sea level. This makes it the seventh-highest mountain in all of Australia! It is taller than most other peaks, except for some in the nearby Main Range and Gungartan.

About Mount Jagungal
Mount Jagungal is special because it stands alone on a wide, flat area. This means you can see it from many kilometers away in every direction. When you reach the top, you get an amazing view of the land around you. It's a great spot to see far and wide!
Exploring the Jagungal Wilderness
The Jagungal Wilderness Area is a huge natural space located north of the Main Range. It's a perfect place for outdoor adventures.
Summer Adventures
In the summer, the wilderness area is great for hiking. About 70% of the region is open grassland. This means you can walk almost anywhere you want! It's a fantastic place to explore nature on foot.
Winter Adventures
When winter comes, the area transforms into a snowy playground. It's a popular spot for cross-country skiing. You can glide across the snow and enjoy the beautiful winter scenery.
The Alpine Hut
Long ago, in 1939, a building called the Alpine Hut was built near Mount Jagungal. It was made for skiers to stay in. Getting to the hut was very hard back then. People had to use packhorses and skis to reach it. Sadly, the Alpine Hut burned down in 1979.
