The Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is a wonderful park located on the eastern slopes of Mount Lofty in the Adelaide Hills of South Australia. It opened in 1977 and covers a large area of 97 hectares. The garden is shaped like a crescent moon.
This garden is special because its location is cooler and wetter than the nearby Adelaide Plains. This makes it a perfect home for plants that like temperate climates. You can find many different kinds of plants here. The garden features native Australian plants, like amazing tree ferns. It also has beautiful plants from other cool parts of the world, such as Rhododendron and Magnolia. You can even find the National Species Rose Collection here.
The Mount Lofty Botanic Garden is managed by the Botanic Gardens of South Australia. This group also looks after the Adelaide and Wittunga Botanic Gardens.
