What is an Ultra-Prominent Peak?
An "ultra-prominent peak" is a mountain that stands out a lot from the land around it. To be "ultra-prominent," a mountain must rise at least 1,500 meters (about 4,900 feet) from its lowest connecting point to a higher peak. This means Mount Perseus is very noticeable in its landscape. It is not just tall, but it also rises sharply from the surrounding area.
