Mount Whymper is a cool mountain located on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. It's super special because it's the highest point in Canada that's south of the 49th parallel! Imagine standing on top of Canada's highest point in that area! This mountain sits between the Chemainus River and the South Nanaimo River. It's about 14 kilometers (or 9 miles) north of a place called Honeymoon Bay.
The Story of Mount Whymper
Mount Whymper got its name way back in 1864. It was named after an explorer named Frederick Whymper. He was part of a big trip called the Vancouver Island Exploring Expedition. On this trip, he worked with another explorer named Robert Brown. They explored parts of Vancouver Island together.
Another Mount Whymper
Did you know there's another mountain in British Columbia also called Mount Whymper? That one is named after Frederick's brother, Edward Whymper. It's pretty neat that two brothers have mountains named after them!
