Moven Enock Mahachi (born June 13, 1948 – died May 26, 2001) was an important political leader in Zimbabwe. He served as the country's Minister of Defence. He was a close friend and supporter of then-President Robert Mugabe and a member of the ZANU-PF political party. Before becoming Defence Minister, he was a Member of Parliament for the area of Makoni West.

Moven Mahachi's Life and Role
Early Life and Political Start
Moven Mahachi was born on June 13, 1948, in what was then Southern Rhodesia. This area is now known as Manicaland, Zimbabwe. He grew up and studied in the region.
He became involved in politics and was elected as a Member of Parliament (M.P.). He represented the Makoni West area. This role meant he helped make laws and represent the people of his constituency.
His Role as Defence Minister
In 1992, Moven Mahachi was appointed as the Minister of Defence for Zimbabwe. This was a very important job. As Defence Minister, he was in charge of the country's military forces. He worked to protect Zimbabwe and manage its defence strategies. He served in this role until his death in 2001.
His Death and Legacy
Moven Mahachi died on May 26, 2001. He was involved in a car accident on the road between Mutare and Nyanga. His vehicle, a Land Rover, collided with another car. The Land Rover then overturned. Mahachi, who was sitting in the back seat, suffered serious head injuries and died at the scene. Four other people in the car survived the accident.
At the time of his death, Moven Mahachi was married and had four children. The Government of Zimbabwe honored him as a national hero. He was buried at the National Heroes Acre in Harare. This is a special burial ground for people who have made great contributions to Zimbabwe.
In 2005, Moven Mahachi was remembered on a special Zimbabwean Post stamp. This stamp had a value of $50,000.
