Muniz is a small community in Hidalgo County, Texas, in the United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). This means it is an area identified by the U.S. Census Bureau for collecting statistics. In 2020, about 1,593 people lived in Muniz. It is part of the larger McAllen–Edinburg–Mission metropolitan area.
As of 2015, Muniz is a type of community called a "colonia." Many people living there were born in other countries, mostly Mexico. In 2015, a journalist from The Guardian newspaper described Muniz as one of the communities along the U.S. border with many families facing financial challenges.

Muniz is located at 26°15′16″N 98°5′25″W / 26.25444°N 98.09028°W. This location is in southern Texas.

Muniz is located about 7 miles (11 kilometers) east of the center of McAllen. As of 2015, there was no public transportation available in the community. The homes in Muniz vary in size and condition. Many houses are built using cement or wood.

Muniz was first recognized as a census designated place in the 2000 U.S. Census. This means it was officially counted as a specific community for the first time then.
