The Murri Rugby League Team is a special team for Indigenous rugby league players. They play in the yearly Queensland Murri Rugby League Carnival. This team lets talented Indigenous players show off their skills on a bigger stage.

History of the Murri Team

Murri Team's First Tour to Hawaii (2012)

In 2012, the Queensland Murri team traveled to Honolulu, Hawaii. They played against the USA Tomahawks at Kaiser Stadium. This was a big moment for the team.

The Murri team was chosen from players who did well in the 2012 Murri Carnival in Ipswich. Some players were already well-known from the Queensland Cup league. These included Brendon Marshall, Donald Malone, Ian Lacey, Keiron Lander, and Kurtis Lingwoodock. The USA Tomahawks team was coached by NRL star, Cory Paterson.

The Murri team also brought members of the Jaran Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Dance Company. This was a special way to share their culture through rugby league and dance.
