History of Muscoy
Muscoy started in the mid-1890s. It was designed as a place for families to have small farms. Roads and water services were built to support these farms, which were usually one to ten acres in size. People grew vineyards, orchards, and various field crops.
After World War II, more people moved to Muscoy. The area slowly changed from mostly farms to more suburban homes. In the 1950s and 1960s, the San Bernardino area became a popular stop for people traveling by car. This led to more shops opening in Muscoy to serve travelers and new residents. In 1989, a serious accident involving a gasoline pipeline occurred in the area.

Muscoy is located at 34°9′22″N 117°20′48″W / 34.15611°N 117.34667°W. The land here ranges from about 1,240 feet (378 meters) high in the south to 1,600 feet (488 meters) high in the north.
The community covers a total area of about 3.1 square miles (8.1 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a very small part being water.
Muscoy is bordered on its west side by the Lytle Creek wash. This is usually a dry riverbed, but sometimes it can have very fast-moving flash floods after heavy rain.
