The Museum of Sacred, Magical and Medicinal Plants was a special museum in Cusco, Peru. It opened in 2011 and was a non-profit place. The museum's main goal was to help protect the amazing plants of the Amazon rainforest and the Andes mountains in South America.
These plants were important for human well-being. The museum also shared the traditional knowledge of local people. This knowledge included how plants were used for medicine, rituals, and by shamanic healers. The museum closed its doors in June 2014.

Exploring the Museum

Main Plant Exhibits
The museum had nine exhibition halls. Five of these halls were dedicated to specific important plants:
- Erythroxylum coca: This plant is well-known in the Andes.
- Nicotiana rustica: A type of tobacco plant.
- Echinopsis pachanoi: Also known as San Pedro cactus.
- Anadenanthera: A genus of trees.
- Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis: These two plants are often used together.
Other Plant Collections
Beyond the main plant halls, there were other fascinating sections. One hall focused on medicinal plants found in the Amazon rainforest. Another hall showed the medicinal plants from the Andes mountains. There was also an exhibit about Biopiracy. This topic explained how traditional plant knowledge can be unfairly used.
Outside in the museum's patios, visitors could see real medicinal plants growing. This allowed people to see the plants up close.

The museum also had a shop and a restaurant for visitors.

The Museum Shop offered many unique natural products. These items were often hard to find anywhere else. You could also find beautiful indigenous craft arts. Books and magazines about plants and local culture were available too.

The Museum Restaurant served a variety of dishes. They had both national and international foods. A special feature was their wide selection of herbal teas. These teas were made from different plants.
