College Basketball Journey
Myke Henry started his college basketball career at the University of Illinois. He was recruited by coach Bruce Weber. After his first year, Coach Weber left the team. The new coach, John Groce, did not play Henry as much during his second year. Because of this, Henry decided to transfer to DePaul University.
At DePaul, Myke Henry showed his skills. On November 30, 2014, he scored his highest points in a single game, getting 29 points against Stanford.
Professional Basketball Career
Starting Out: 2016–17 Season
After finishing college, Myke Henry was not chosen in the 2016 NBA draft. However, he still got a chance to play professionally. He signed with the Oklahoma City Blue, a team in the NBA G League. This league is like a development league for the NBA.
In May 2017, after playing 39 games with the Oklahoma City Blue, Henry moved to Mexico. He joined the Rayos de Hermosillo team in the CIBACOPA league.
Moving Up: 2017–18 Season
In October 2017, Myke Henry returned to the Oklahoma City Blue for another season. On January 13, 2018, he signed a special "two-way contract" with the Memphis Grizzlies. This type of contract allows a player to play for both an NBA team (the Grizzlies) and their G League team (the Memphis Hustle). The Grizzlies later ended his contract in July 2018.
Playing in Israel: 2018–19 Season
In July 2018, Henry signed a one-year deal to play for Ironi Nahariya in the Israeli Basketball Premier League. He had a great start, scoring 31 points in his very first game on October 7, 2018. This performance earned him the "Israeli League Round 1 MVP" award. He also won the "Israeli League Round 23 MVP" award later in the season. In total, he played 33 games for Nahariya, averaging about 14.3 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.
Back to the G League: 2019–20 Season
In September 2019, Myke Henry signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He then joined their G League team, the Oklahoma City Blue. He continued to play well, scoring 24 points and grabbing nine rebounds in a game in December 2019. He averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game that season.
Playing in Europe: 2020–22 Seasons
In July 2020, Henry moved to Italy to play for Pallacanestro Trieste in the Lega Basket Serie A. The next year, in July 2021, he signed with Champagne Châlons-Reims in France. He averaged 12.6 points per game there before leaving the team in January 2022.
Later in January 2022, Henry signed with Iraklis Thessaloniki in the Greek Basket League. He played 12 games, averaging 15.4 points and 6.4 rebounds.
