Ash-breasted antbird facts for kids
The ash-breasted antbird (Myrmoborus lugubris) is a small bird that eats insects. It belongs to the antbird family, called Thamnophilidae. You can find this bird in countries like Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.
This bird lives in warm, wet lowland forests. These are often called subtropical or tropical moist forests.
Scientists first described the ash-breasted antbird in 1847. A German scientist named Jean Cabanis gave it its first scientific name, Myrmonax lugubris. Later, in 1860, it was placed in its current group, or genus, called Myrmoborus.
