Lac Métabetchouane is a large freshwater lake in Quebec, Canada. The Métabetchouane River flows right through it. The lake is located in a wild area called Lac-Moncouche, which is part of the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region.
This lake is special because it sits between two important natural areas. To the east, you'll find the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. To the west, it borders the zec Kiskissink.
Getting to the lake is mostly by forest roads. These roads are used for logging and for people who visit for fun activities like fishing or camping. Forestry, which is cutting down trees, is the main business here. Tourism is also important.
During winter, Lac Métabetchouane usually freezes over. It's often safe to walk or play on the ice from mid-December to mid-March.

About Lac Métabetchouane
Lac Métabetchouane is quite long, stretching about 12.5 km (7.8 mi). It is about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) wide. The lake sits at an elevation of 382 m (1,253 ft) above sea level.
The main river feeding the lake is the Métabetchouane River. This river flows into the lake from the east. Several smaller streams and outlets from other lakes also add water to Lac Métabetchouane. The Métabetchouane River then continues its journey through the lake for about 10.5 km (6.5 mi) before flowing out to the northwest.
The lake has a peninsula that extends about 1.1 km (0.68 mi) into the water. This peninsula helps create two large bays. One bay stretches about 4.8 km (3.0 mi) to the south on the east side. The other bay, on the west side, goes about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) to the south. There's also a bay called Naquagami Bay, which is about 2.0 km (1.2 mi) long and collects water from the Métabetchouane River.
