NASA Astronaut Group 20 facts for kids
NASA Astronaut Group 20, also known as "The Chumps," is a special team of 14 astronauts. Nine of them are from the United States, and five are from other countries like Canada and Japan. These amazing people started their astronaut training in August 2009. After a lot of hard work and learning, they officially became astronauts on November 4, 2011. They are trained to fly into space and work on important missions, often to the International Space Station (ISS).
Meet the Astronauts of Group 20
This group includes both American and international astronauts. They all trained together to become space explorers. Many of them have already flown to space. Others are preparing for their future missions.
American Astronauts
- Serena M. Auñón (1 flight)
- Serena flew on Soyuz MS-09. She was a flight engineer for Expedition 56 and 57 to the ISS.
- Jeanette J. Epps
- Jeanette is assigned to a future flight on Boeing Starliner-1. She will be a mission specialist.
- Jack D. Fischer (1 flight)
- Jack flew on Soyuz MS-04. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 52 and 53.
- Michael S. Hopkins (2 flights)
- Michael's first flight was on Soyuz TMA-10M. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 37 and 38.
- His second flight was as commander of SpaceX Crew-1. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 64 and 65.
- Kjell N. Lindgren (1 flight)
- Kjell flew on Soyuz TMA-17M. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 44 and 45.
- He is also assigned as commander for a future mission, SpaceX Crew-4.
- Kathleen Rubins (2 flights)
- Kathleen's first mission was on Soyuz MS-01. She was a flight engineer for Expedition 48 and 49.
- Her second mission was on Soyuz MS-17. She was a flight engineer for Expedition 63 and 64.
- Scott D. Tingle (1 flight)
- Scott flew on Soyuz MS-07. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 54 and 55.
- Mark T. Vande Hei (2 flights)
- Mark's first flight was on Soyuz MS-06. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 53 and 54.
- His second mission was on Soyuz MS-18. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 64, 65, and 66.
- Gregory R. Wiseman (1 flight)
- Gregory flew on Soyuz TMA-13M. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 40 and 41. He is currently the Chief of the Astronaut Office at NASA.

- Jeremy Hansen, from Canada
- Norishige Kanai, from Japan (1 flight)
- Norishige flew on Soyuz MS-07. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 54 and 55.
- Takuya Onishi, from Japan (1 flight)
- Takuya flew on Soyuz MS-01. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 48 and 49.
- David Saint-Jacques, from Canada (1 flight)
- David flew on Soyuz MS-11. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 58 and 59.
- Kimiya Yui, from Japan (1 flight)
- Kimiya flew on Soyuz TMA-17M. He was a flight engineer for Expedition 44 and 45.
