Nadine de Rothschild (born Nadine Nelly Jeannette Lhopitalier on April 18, 1932) is a French author and former actress. She became well-known after marrying Baron Edmond Adolphe de Rothschild, a member of the famous Rothschild family of bankers.

Life Story

From Factory Worker to Actress

Nadine was born in Saint-Quentin, a town in France. She had a difficult childhood and never knew her father. At the age of 14, she left home to work in a Peugeot car factory.

Two years later, when she was 16, her life changed. She became a model for the painter Jean-Gabriel Domergue. He was a well-known artist who introduced her to important people. This helped her start a career in theater and movies. From 1952 to 1964, she acted in many films under the stage name Nadine Tallier.

Marriage and a New Life

In 1962, Nadine met and married Baron Edmond Adolphe de Rothschild. He was a part of the very wealthy and powerful Rothschild family, who were famous for their work in banking. Edmond was the head of the Edmond de Rothschild Group, a private bank based in Geneva, Switzerland.

Nadine was raised as a Roman Catholic, but she chose to convert to Judaism when she married Edmond. She explained that she felt it was important to share the same faith as her husband and his family.

Soon after their wedding, they had a son named Benjamin de Rothschild, who was born in 1963. After her husband Edmond passed away in 1997, Nadine became a widow.

Career as an Author

After her acting career, Nadine became a successful author. She used her title, Baroness de Rothschild, and wrote several books. Her most famous books are about good manners and her own life story. She believed in the importance of politeness and living well.

In 2004, she opened the Nadine de Rothschild International Way of Life Academy in Geneva. This school taught people about proper etiquette and social skills.

Later Years

In her later years, Nadine was still involved in the family business. However, she had a disagreement with her daughter-in-law, Ariane de Rothschild. Because of this, she decided to move her part of the family's money to a different Swiss bank.
