The Nadreau Lake is a freshwater lake located in Quebec, Canada. It is found in the Lac-Jacques-Cartier area, which is part of the Capitale-Nationale region. This lake is important for the surrounding forests and for fun outdoor activities like hiking and fishing.
The lake's surface usually freezes over from late November to early April. It is generally safe to walk or skate on the ice from mid-December to the end of March. A small dam at the lake's exit helps control the water level.
Lake Nadreau's Location and Flow
Nadreau Lake is the starting point for the Jacques-Cartier River. Water flows into Nadreau Lake from two smaller lakes to its west: Plamondon Lake (which is 844 metres (2,769 ft) high) and another unnamed lake (which is 862 metres (2,828 ft) high).
From Nadreau Lake, the water flows about 180 metres (590 ft) north into Grandpré Lake (which is 847 metres (2,779 ft) high). Grandpré Lake then empties west into Petit Pré Lake. Petit Pré Lake is about 440 metres (1,440 ft) long and is 838 metres (2,749 ft) high.
From Petit Pré Lake, the Jacques-Cartier River flows about 15.6 kilometres (9.7 mi) northwest. It eventually reaches Jacques-Cartier Lake, which is a much larger body of water on the same river.
Surrounding Nature
Near Nadreau Lake, there are two tall mountains. One mountain, southwest of the lake, reaches 994 metres (3,261 ft) high. Another mountain, on the west side, is 993 metres (3,258 ft) high.
This forest area also has many swampy spots at different heights, from 813 metres (2,667 ft) to 847 metres (2,779 ft). You can find these swamps around lakes like Petit Pré, Grandpré, Gariépy, Étang des Silènes, and Saulmer. There are also swamps in the Malbaie River area, near Lac des Frelons and Lac des Sixty Six. This last area seems to have 66 small lakes hidden among the swamps!
