Nancy Wu (Chinese: 胡定欣) (born on September 9, 1981) is a famous Hong Kong actress and singer. She works with TVB and Shaw Brothers Pictures.
Nancy Wu is well-known for her acting skills. She won the top acting award at the TVB Anniversary Awards two years in a row, in 2015 and 2016.

Early Life and School Days
Nancy Wu grew up in the Central and Western District of Hong Kong. She has a younger brother. Her family owned a seafood shop, but it closed in 2002.
As the oldest child, Nancy started working to help her family while still in school. She went to St. Margaret's Girls' College. In primary school, she sang in the choir. In secondary school, she played track and field and was part of a dance group.
Starting a Career in Entertainment
Before becoming an actress, Nancy Wu worked as a secretary. Unlike many friends who joined showbiz through beauty pageants, Nancy started with singing and modeling contests.
Entering the Spotlight
In 1999, Nancy joined TVB's 18th Annual New Talent Singing Awards. She finished in fourth place.
In 2001, she won several awards at TVB's 3rd Annual Cover Girl Competition. She won Most Photogenic, Most Fit, Most Attractive, and the Overall Winner Award. After this, she joined the 18th TVB Acting Class and began her journey in entertainment.
Early Acting Roles
At the start of her acting career, Nancy often played small parts. She was sometimes cast as a villain or a mistress. One of her early roles was Wan Wan in Twin of Brothers. She played this challenging character very well, which helped her get noticed.
In 2008, Nancy gained more recognition. She won the Most Improved Female Artiste award at the TVB Anniversary Awards. This was for her roles in shows like D.I.E., The Silver Chamber of Sorrows, Wars of In-Laws II, and Legend of the Demigods.
Taking on Bigger Roles
From 2009 to 2011, Nancy played important supporting roles. These were in popular dramas such as Rosy Business, No Regrets, Gun Metal Grey, and Forensic Heroes III.
In 2012, Nancy won the Best Supporting Actress award at the TVB Anniversary Awards. She also won at the Asian Television Awards. This was for her amazing performance in Gloves Come Off. In this show, she played a mute female Muay Thai boxer. She learned sign language and boxing for the role. This role changed her image, showing she could be an action heroine. TVB also gave her a Long Service Award for her work.
A year later, she won another award for her role as CoCo in Triumph in the Skies II. She played a woman who became a surrogate mother. Nancy always tries to improve with every role. In 2015 and 2016, Nancy Wu won the TVB Anniversary Award for Best Actress two years in a row. She also won the My Favourite TVB Actress award in Malaysia. These awards were for her roles in Ghost of Relativity and as Tiu Lan in A Fist Within Four Walls.
Since 2016, Nancy has played many leading roles on TV. She has won and been nominated for major awards. She says her family and friends, especially actress Myolie Wu, helped her succeed.
Nancy has also performed in other ways. In 2018, she sang Kunqu opera and danced in a play called By Chance: Xu Zhimo. That same year, she was in the film Men on the Dragon. She was nominated for Best New Performer at the 38th Hong Kong Film Awards. She won Best New Performer at the Movie6 Movie Awards. In 2024, she appeared in the movie Rob N Roll.
In 2020, Nancy signed a contract with Shaw Brothers Pictures.

Nancy Wu has also worked as a spokesperson for different brands. She has been the face of Vita Green since 2014 and Suisse Programme since 2019.
Helping Others
Nancy is also involved in volunteer and charity work. She supports many organizations and events.

- In 2020, she became an ambassador for Plan International. She visited Nepal to support girl rights and gender equality. She has also joined their fundraisers like Shine Together and Run for Girls.

Personal Life and Hobbies
Nancy Wu is very close friends with Myolie Wu, Paisley Wu, Elaine Yiu, Selena Lee, and Mandy Wong. They formed a group called "胡說八道會" (meaning "nonsense talk"). Some members share the same last name, Wu.
In 2017, this group filmed a travel show called The Sisterhood Traveling Gang. The show won awards for being a favorite TVB variety show.
Nancy is also friends with Rosina Lam and Alex Fong. While she loves her friends, Nancy has said it's not easy to find a life partner. Her past relationships include Deep Ng, Kenneth Ma, Patt Sham, and Terry Chan.
Nancy enjoys a healthy and active lifestyle. She loves long-distance running. She formed a running group called "Crazy Runner" with friends like Benjamin Yuen and Joel Chan.
In 2018, Nancy bought a big house for her parents in Tuen Mun. Family is very important to her. She even missed the 2023 TVB Anniversary Awards to celebrate her parents’ anniversary.
