Nandewar County is a special area in New South Wales, Australia. It is one of 141 "cadastral divisions" in the state. These divisions are like old maps used to keep track of land and property. Nandewar County is located to the east of the Namoi River. You can find the town of Narrabri at its northwest edge. The town of Gunnedah is at its southern edge.
What's in a Name?
Nandewar County gets its name from the Nandewar Range. This is a chain of mountains in the area. The local Aboriginal people called these mountains "Nandewar." The name was chosen to honor the history and original people of the land.
Land Divisions: Parishes
Inside Nandewar County, the land is further divided into smaller sections called parishes. These parishes are also used for keeping land records. Each parish has its own name and belongs to a local government area. This helps with managing the land and its resources.
