Naser Cheshmazar (born December 31, 1950 – died May 4, 2018) was a famous Iranian musician and composer. He was really good at many types of music. These included classical, musical theater, blues, folk music, jazz, and popular music. Naser Cheshmazar wrote many songs for popular Iranian singers. Some of these singers were Hayedeh, Googoosh, Mahasti, Dariush, Sattar, Ebi, and Leila Forouhar.

Early Life and First Steps in Music

Naser Cheshmazar was born in Ardabil, Iran, on the last day of 1950. His father was also a musician. He taught Naser the basics of traditional Persian music when he was a child. Naser's very first instrument was the accordion. This is how his musical journey began.

A Career in Music

When Naser was just 12 years old, he and his father joined the Azerbaijan Orchestra. This orchestra played on Radio Iran. Naser quickly showed how talented he was. He even won his first award for playing the accordion while still in junior high school.

At 17, Naser became an orchestra conductor. He led an orchestra at the Iranian Embassy in Iraq. Just one year later, at 18, he started his professional career. He went on tour with the famous singer Googoosh.

Learning More About Music

When Naser was 20, he traveled to the United States. There, he took a basic course in jazz music. After he returned home, he became the orchestra conductor for the Parviz Gharib Afshar Show. Young Naser also worked with great music masters like Morteza Hannaneh and Êmmanowêl Melik'-Aslanean.

In 1978, he went back to the United States. He spent five years studying jazz and how to compose music for movies. After this, he became a leader in Iran. He was one of the first to bring electronic musical instruments into Iranian music.

Music for Movies and Famous Albums

Naser Cheshmazar's first step into making music for movies was for a film called Taraj. This movie was directed by Iraj Ghaderi.

He is most famous for his album called Rain of Love. This album was inspired by the sad songs of mothers. These mothers had lost their children, who were Iranian soldiers, in the Iran-Iraq War.
