Nathan Solomon Kapahukula Knight (born September 20, 1997) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Zhejiang Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the William & Mary Tribe.

Nathan Knight's Early Life and High School Basketball

Nathan Knight grew up in Syracuse, New York. He went to Nottingham High School. When he was a freshman, he played baseball as a pitcher. After a big growth spurt, he decided to focus on basketball.

In his senior year of high school, Nathan averaged 14.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. He was named All-Central New York for his great performance. After high school, he spent a year at Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire. He also played for a team called Gym Ratz in AAU games.

On October 5, 2015, Nathan chose to play college basketball at William & Mary. He picked William & Mary because he liked the college's history. He also felt very comfortable on the campus.

Starting Strong at William & Mary

As a freshman at William & Mary, Nathan played in 31 games. He started in six of those games. He averaged 8.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. Before his second year, he worked hard and lost 45 pounds. His coach, Tony Shaver, praised his dedication.

In his sophomore year, Nathan improved a lot. He averaged 18.5 points, 7.3 rebounds, and two blocks per game. He was named to the second team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA).

Amazing Junior Year Performances

Nathan had some incredible games in his junior year. On February 9, 2019, he scored a career-high 39 points. He also grabbed 14 rebounds against Hofstra. A week later, he scored 35 points and had 13 rebounds against Elon. He then scored 30 points in a win against College of Charleston.

He was named first team All-CAA as a junior. He averaged 21 points, 8.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game. Nathan was the first college basketball player since Tim Duncan in 1997 to average 20 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks per game. His scoring average was the highest for a William & Mary player since 1968. He also had 12 games where he scored double-digits in two different stats (double-doubles). After thinking about joining the 2019 NBA draft, Nathan decided to return to William & Mary for his senior year.

Senior Year Success and Awards

Before his senior season, the team got a new coach, Dane Fischer. Even though some players left, Nathan decided to stay. In his senior year, he scored 30 points in games against Buffalo and Oklahoma.

On January 4, 2020, Nathan made a game-winning shot with seconds left against Northeastern. He finished that game with 23 points and 11 rebounds. On February 8, 2020, he reached 2,000 career points. He was only the fourth player in William & Mary history to achieve this.

At the end of the regular season, Nathan received two big awards. He was named CAA Player of the Year. He also won CAA Defensive Player of the Year. He was only the second player in CAA history to win both awards in the same season. Nathan finished his senior year averaging 20.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. He was the fourth CAA player ever to average 20 points and 10 rebounds in a season.

Nathan Knight's Professional Basketball Career

Playing for the Atlanta Hawks (2020–2021)

Nathan Knight signed a special two-way contract with the Atlanta Hawks on November 19, 2020. This type of contract allows players to play for both an NBA team and its G League affiliate. He played in 33 games for the Hawks during the 2020–21 season. He averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. He did not play for the Hawks' G League team that season.

Time with the Minnesota Timberwolves (2021–2023)

For the 2021–22 season, Nathan signed another two-way contract. This time it was with the Minnesota Timberwolves and their G League team, the Iowa Wolves. On December 27, 2021, he made his first NBA start. In that game, he scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in a win against the Boston Celtics. He played in 37 games for the Timberwolves, averaging 3.7 points and 2.3 rebounds.

On July 23, 2022, Nathan signed again with the Timberwolves. He played in 38 games, averaging 3.7 points and 1.5 rebounds.

Short Stays with Maine Celtics and Motor City Cruise (2023–2024)

On July 21, 2023, Nathan signed a two-way contract with the New York Knicks. However, he was waived by them on October 19. Three days later, he signed another two-way contract, this time with the Boston Celtics. Boston waived him on December 12. During his time with the Maine Celtics (Boston's G League team), he averaged 8.9 points and 8.3 rebounds in 12 games.

On December 17, 2023, Nathan joined the Motor City Cruise. This team is another G League affiliate.

Joining the Zhejiang Lions (2024–Present)

On August 3, 2024, Nathan Knight signed with the Zhejiang Lions. This team plays in the Chinese Basketball Association.
