National Envelope Corporation facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

National Envelope Corporation was a large American company that made envelopes. It started small in 1952 in New York, New York. A person named William Ungar founded it as the New York Envelope Company. He helped the company grow a lot over the years. They bought other companies and expanded. By 2001, they had 17 factories in nine different states!

However, the company faced some tough times. In 2010, National Envelope had to file for something called bankruptcy. This means they needed legal help to manage their money problems. Later that year, a company called Gores Group bought them. But in 2013, National Envelope (which had changed its name to NE Opco Inc) went through bankruptcy again. Finally, in September 2013, the company's parts were sold off to different buyers. The National Envelope name was then stopped from being used.
