Nazko is a small community in British Columbia, Canada. It is known for ranching (raising cattle) and logging (cutting down trees). Nazko is also home to a historic First Nations community.
You can find Nazko about 100 kilometers west of Quesnel. It sits right by the Nazko River in the middle of British Columbia. The name 'Nazko' means "river flowing from the south."
Nazko is like the starting point for the Nuxalk Carrier Grease-Alexander Mackenzie Heritage Trail. This trail is a historic route. The Nazko First Nation lives on a large piece of land called an Indian reserve here. The area is also famous in the history of ranching.

History of Nazko
Early Buildings and Services
The first schools in Nazko were built in 1950 by local ranchers and homesteaders. The Canadian government built another school in 1960.
In 1984, BC Hydro brought electricity to the area. This meant homes and businesses could finally have power. The next year, the road from Quesnel to Nazko was paved, making travel much easier.
Nearby Volcano and Earthquakes
Nazko is about 22 kilometers from the Nazko Cone. This is a volcano that last erupted about 7,200 years ago.
Between 2007 and 2008, a series of small earthquakes happened near Nazko Cone. This event is known as the 2007–2008 Nazko earthquakes. The quakes occurred about 30 kilometers west of the volcano.

Nazko is in the Cariboo North Electoral District. This area is in the Central Interior part of British Columbia. It is located 112 kilometers west of Quesnel.
