Negros is a small, quiet area called a barrio in Corozal, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 1,398 people lived there.
A Look Back in Time
Negros was once part of Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
In 1899, the United States counted everyone living in Puerto Rico. This count, called a census, showed that 818 people lived in Negros barrio at that time.
Land and People
Negros covers about 2.97 square miles of land. It does not have any large bodies of water. In 2010, its population was 1,398. This means there were about 470 people living in each square mile.
