Neika is a small, quiet area in Tasmania, Australia. It's located in two local government areas: Hobart and Kingborough. Neika is about 20 kilometers (12 miles) southwest of Hobart, the capital city. In 2016, only 198 people lived here, making it a very small community. It's considered a suburb of Hobart, found northwest of Kingston.

History of Neika

Neika officially became a recognized place in 1970. Its name, Neika, is thought to be an Aboriginal word. It means 'hill', which makes sense because of the area's landscape. A post office opened in Neika on January 13, 1913. It served the community for many years before closing in 1969.

Geography and Natural Features

Long Creek helps form the northern edge of Neika. The North West Bay River also runs through the southwestern part of the area. These waterways add to the natural beauty of the region.

Roads and Transport

The main road in Neika is Route B64, also known as Huon Road. It travels right through the area, from south to north. This road connects Neika to other nearby towns and cities.
