The electoral division of Clark is one of five areas in Tasmania that elects people to the Tasmanian House of Assembly. It's located in Hobart, right next to the River Derwent, and includes the areas below Mount Wellington.
This area is named after Andrew Inglis Clark. He was a very important Tasmanian lawyer who helped write the Australian Constitution. The Clark electorate has the same name and borders as the federal (national) division of Clark.
Before September 2018, this area was called the electoral division of Denison. It was named after Sir William Denison, who was a governor in Australia a long time ago. The name change to Clark happened to match the federal election areas.
Clark and the other House of Assembly areas each choose five members. They use a special voting system called the Hare-Clark electoral system, which is also partly named after Andrew Inglis Clark.

What is an Electoral Division?
An electoral division is like a special zone on a map. People who live in that zone get to vote for their representatives in the government. These representatives then speak for the people in their area.
History of the Clark Electorate
The area became known as Clark in September 2018. This change happened when new laws were passed in Tasmania. It made the state's voting areas match the federal ones, which had already changed their name from Denison to Clark in 2017.
The Clark division is on the western side of the Derwent River. It covers parts of the Kingborough area and all of the Hobart and Glenorchy local government areas. It's the smallest of Tasmania's five electoral divisions, covering about 292 square kilometers.
Who Represents Clark?
