Frederick Nelson Pyatt (born September 9, 1953) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a center, which is a key position in hockey. Fred Pyatt was born in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada.

In 1973, he was chosen by two different hockey leagues! The Detroit Red Wings picked him for the NHL, and the Minnesota Fighting Saints picked him for the World Hockey Association. During his career, Pyatt also played for the Washington Capitals and the Colorado Rockies.

Fred Pyatt comes from a hockey family! He is the father of Jesse, and his other sons, Tom and Taylor Pyatt, also became professional hockey players in the NHL.

Fred Pyatt's Hockey Journey

Fred Pyatt started his hockey career playing for the Oshawa Generals in the OHA. He played there for two seasons, showing off his skills.

Joining the NHL

In 1973, Fred Pyatt made his debut in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings. He also spent some time playing for the London Lions in exhibition games.

After playing a few games with the Red Wings, he moved to the Washington Capitals during the 1974-75 season. With the Capitals, he started to score more goals and get more assists. In the 1975-76 season, he had a great year, scoring 26 goals and helping his team with 23 assists.

Time with the Colorado Rockies

Fred Pyatt then joined the Colorado Rockies for the 1976-77 season. He continued to be an important player, scoring 23 goals and adding 22 assists that year. He played for the Rockies for several seasons.

Later in his career, he also played in other leagues, like the AHL for the Virginia Wings and the Philadelphia Firebirds. He also played in the CHL for the Fort Worth Texans.

Playing in Germany

Towards the end of his career, Fred Pyatt played hockey in Germany for VER Selb. He had two very successful seasons there, scoring many goals and points. He retired from professional hockey in 1982.
