NerdaCon was a super fun event for fans of many different hobbies! It was like a big party or festival held every year since 2007. The Campus Nerds group at Columbus State University organized it. This group is all about bringing together people who love similar things.

Each year, the event was called "NerdaCon vX," where "X" was the number of the convention. So, the first one was "v1," the second was "v2," and so on. Because it covered many interests, NerdaCon didn't focus on just one thing. Instead, it had lots of activities, guests, and sellers related to anime, manga, science fiction, gaming, comic books, and even zombie apocalypse themes! It was a great place for anyone who loved "nerdy" or "geeky" stuff.

For a long time, NerdaCon was free for everyone to attend. But starting with NerdaCon v9, you needed a ticket to get in. This change helped the event move to a bigger place: the Columbus Convention and Trade Center in 2015. NerdaCon v10 and all later events were held there. NerdaCon also helped out good causes, like Children's Miracle Network and the Hero Initiative, by raising money for them.

Usually, NerdaCon happened on a Friday and Saturday in November. On Friday, it ran from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. On Saturday, it was from 10:00 AM to 11:00 PM. But for NerdaCon v6, which happened on November 11, 2011 (11/11/11), they added 11 extra minutes to each day! So, it ended at 11:11 PM, which was a cool tradition.

What Happened at NerdaCon?

NerdaCon had tons of exciting things to do during the convention! You could join in different kinds of tournaments, like boffer (foam sword fighting), trading card games, and video game competitions. There was also a special area for casual gaming if you just wanted to play for fun.

One of the most popular events was the costume contest, where people showed off their amazing Cosplay outfits. Cosplay is when you dress up as a character from a movie, game, or comic. On Saturday night, everyone could enjoy a dance party with music played by guest DJs.

NerdaCon also had a big vendor hall. Here, you could find many sellers and artists offering cool goods, like artwork, comics, and unique crafts. There were also several panel rooms where experts and fans talked about different topics. If you loved anime, there was a special room just for watching anime shows. Plus, you could meet special guests who were famous in the world of comics, gaming, or anime!
