History of New Boston
New Boston was first settled way back in 1827. It was originally called "Catville." This name came from the initials of the person who owned the land, C. A. Trowbridge. A post office opened there with the name Catville in 1860. On March 20, 1868, the community's name was changed to New Boston. It was named after the famous city of Boston, Massachusetts.
