New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame facts for kids
The New Jersey Women's Hall of Fame celebrates amazing women from New Jersey. It was started in 2011 by the YWCA of Trenton, in Trenton, New Jersey. This special hall of fame honors women who have done great things and made a big difference.
Each year, new members are welcomed at a special event called the Annual Induction Gala. This event happens in the spring. Every woman inducted receives the beautiful Gerber Daisy Award. This award was created in 2011 by Boehm Porcelain, a company in Trenton. The very first group of women joined the Hall of Fame on March 31, 2011.
The YWCA of Trenton helps make this Hall of Fame possible. The YWCA began in 1904. Its main goals are to help women feel strong and capable, stop racism, and encourage peace, fairness, freedom, and respect for everyone.
