New Lambton Heights is a suburb in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It is located about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) west of Newcastle's main city area. This suburb is unique because it is split between two different local government areas: the City of Lake Macquarie and the City of Newcastle.

The original people of this land were the Awabakal Aboriginal people. They have lived here for a very long time.

Hospitals and Community Life

New Lambton Heights is home to a large hospital complex. This includes the John Hunter Hospital, which is a major hospital for both adults and children. Other hospitals in the area are John Hunter Children's Hospital, Rankin Park Hospital, and Newcastle Private Hospital. The Royal Newcastle Centre is also here.

Croudace House is an old building in New Lambton Heights. It was built in 1863. It was originally the home of Thomas Croudace and his family.

Famous Visitors and Hospital Use

In 1888, a special visitor, Grand Duke Alexander Mikhailovich of Russia, came to the property. Later, in the 1920s, the Royal Newcastle Hospital bought the house.

During World War II, Croudace House was used as an emergency hospital. It also provided housing for nurses. After the war, it became known as Rankin Park 'Chest' Hospital. It helped patients who had tuberculosis.

Recent History of Croudace House

In the 1960s and 1970s, the house was used to provide accommodation for women. The building became run-down in the 1980s. However, it was repaired in the 1990s. Today, Croudace House is used as consulting rooms for a cardiologist.
