New Lebanon is a small, unincorporated community located in Cooper County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. An unincorporated community means it's a group of homes and buildings that isn't officially a city or town with its own local government. New Lebanon is situated on Missouri Route A, about seven miles from Otterville to the south and seven miles from Pilot Grove to the north. The Lamine River flows nearby, just two miles west of the community.

A Look Back: New Lebanon's Story

New Lebanon has an interesting past! A post office was opened here in 1887. This was a very important place for people to send and receive letters and packages before emails and cell phones existed. The post office served the community for many years, finally closing its doors in 1906.

The community got its name from a local building called the New Lebanon Church. This church was a central part of life for the people living there.

Today, two important places in New Lebanon are recognized for their history. The New Lebanon Cumberland Presbyterian Church and School building itself, and a larger area known as the New Lebanon Historic District, are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are special places that are protected and celebrated for their historical importance in the United States.
