New Salisbury is a small community in Indiana, United States. It is known as a census-designated place (CDP). New Salisbury is located in Jackson Township, within Harrison County.
The community is mainly found where two important roads meet: State Highway 135 and State Highway 64. It is about 7 miles away from Corydon, which is the main town of Harrison County.

History of New Salisbury
New Salisbury was officially planned and laid out in 1839. A person named John Kepley created the town. He named it after his old hometown, which was Salisbury, North Carolina.
During the American Civil War, New Salisbury experienced a difficult event. In July 1863, a group of Confederate soldiers led by General John Hunt Morgan came through the town. This event is known as Morgan's Raid. The soldiers took supplies from the town as they moved north. They camped nearby on the night of July 9, 1863.
