New Vienna is a village in Clinton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,108 at the 2020 census.
History
New Vienna was originally called Buzzard's Glory, and under the latter name was laid out in 1835.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.87 square miles (2.25 km2), of which 0.85 square miles (2.20 km2) is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 km2) is water.
Demographics
2010 census
As of the census of 2010, there were 1,224 people, 478 households, and 322 families living in the village. The population density was 1,440.0 inhabitants per square mile (556.0/km2). There were 557 housing units at an average density of 655.3 per square mile (253.0/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 96.7% White, 0.8% African American, 0.4% Native American, 0.3% Asian, 0.5% from other races, and 1.2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the population.
There were 478 households, of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.4% were married couples living together, 15.7% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.3% had a male householder with no wife present, and 32.6% were non-families. 27.0% of all households were made up of individuals, and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.03.
The median age in the village was 35.7 years. 26.5% of residents were under the age of 18; 7.3% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 29.2% were from 25 to 44; 26.3% were from 45 to 64; and 10.8% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the village was 47.9% male and 52.1% female.
