Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Ngardok were an Indigenous Australian group of people. They lived in the Northern Territory of Australia. Sadly, their language is no longer spoken today. It became extinct around the time of World War II, so we don't know much about it.

Where the Ngardok Lived

A famous researcher named Norman Tindale estimated that the Ngardok people's land covered about 518 square kilometers (200 square miles). They lived on an island called Field Island, which is located in the Van Diemen Gulf.

Their country also included the swampy and bushy coastal areas nearby. This land stretched from the South Alligator River all the way to a place called Farewell Point, which is near the mouth of the East Alligator River.
