Nicolas Kerdiles (born January 11, 1994 – died September 23, 2023) was an American professional ice hockey player. He played as a forward and briefly joined the National Hockey League (NHL) with the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks picked Kerdiles in the second round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, as the 36th player chosen overall.

Early Life and Family
Nicolas Kerdiles was born on January 11, 1994, in Lewisville, Texas. His father was French, and his mother was French-Canadian. This meant his first language was French. He also had two older sisters, both born in France.
Soon after Nic was born, his family moved to France. When he was six years old, they moved back to the United States and settled in Irvine, California.
Playing Ice Hockey
Youth and College Hockey
As a young player, Kerdiles showed great talent in ice hockey. In 2007, he played in the famous Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a team from Los Angeles.
He later went to the University of Wisconsin–Madison. There, he played two seasons of NCAA Division I hockey for the Wisconsin Badgers. During his first year, he helped the Badgers win the Broadmoor Trophy. This award is for the WCHA playoff champion. Kerdiles was even named the most valuable player of the 2013 WCHA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament for his amazing performance.
Professional Career
On April 5, 2014, Nic Kerdiles decided to leave college early to become a professional player. He signed a three-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League. He started his professional career with the Ducks' minor league team, the Norfolk Admirals. This was during the 2014 Calder Cup playoffs.
On February 22, 2017, Kerdiles played his very first NHL game for the Ducks against the Boston Bruins. This was a special moment because he became the first player who grew up in Orange County, California, to play for the Anaheim Ducks. The team signed him again for another year on June 17, 2017.
Later, on June 30, 2018, the Ducks traded Kerdiles to the Winnipeg Jets. In return, the Ducks received another player named Chase De Leo. Kerdiles then signed a one-year contract with the Jets on August 21, 2018.
Personal Life
In November 2017, Nic Kerdiles started dating Savannah Chrisley. She is known for starring in the reality TV show Chrisley Knows Best. They got engaged on December 24, 2018. However, in September 2020, Savannah Chrisley announced that they had ended their engagement.
Nic Kerdiles sadly passed away on September 23, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 29.
