Nick Boynton's Hockey Journey

Early Hockey Days

Nick Boynton started playing hockey in his hometown of Nobleton, Ontario. He played for the NobleKing Knights. He even played in a big tournament called the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in 1992. When he was 15, he joined a junior league team, the Caledon Canadians.

He then played four great seasons for the Ottawa 67's in the OHL. In his last junior year, he scored 59 points in 51 games. This showed he was a very strong player.

Joining the NHL

Nick was first chosen by the Washington Capitals in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. But they didn't agree on a contract. So, he went back into the draft in 1999. He was then picked by the Boston Bruins. He played for the Bruins until the 2005-06 season.

His best season with the Bruins was 2003-04. He scored 30 points that year. During the NHL lockout season in 2004-05, Nick played for the Nottingham Panthers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. He famously scored a goal that tied the game in the British Championship Grand Final.

Moving to Other Teams

He had a good season in 2008-09, scoring 21 points in 68 games. During that season, he was sent home from a road trip for disciplinary reasons. This was after an argument with his coach.

On July 9, 2009, he signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks. After playing 42 games, he was sent to their minor league team, the Manitoba Moose.

Winning the Stanley Cup

On March 2, 2010, Nick was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He was first sent to their minor league team, the Rockford IceHogs. Later, he was called up to the Blackhawks. He played his first game with them on March 17, 2010. On June 9, 2010, he achieved a huge dream. He won his first Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks!

After that amazing win, Nick was claimed by the Philadelphia Flyers on February 26, 2011. He played ten games with them to finish the 2010-11 season. He retired from playing hockey after that season.
