Nicholas Carl Boynton (born January 14, 1979) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a defenceman for 11 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). Nick played for teams like the Boston Bruins, Phoenix Coyotes, Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, Chicago Blackhawks, and Philadelphia Flyers. After his playing career, he worked as a radio analyst for the Arizona Coyotes.

Nick's Hockey Journey
Starting in Youth Hockey
Nick Boynton grew up in Nobleton, Ontario, and started playing hockey there. He played in the 1992 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament. This is a big tournament for young hockey players. Before joining the NHL, he played four great seasons with the OHL's Ottawa 67's. In his last junior year (1998–99), he scored 59 points in 51 games.
Joining the NHL
Nick was first chosen by the Washington Capitals in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. However, he didn't sign a contract with them. So, he was able to be picked again in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. This time, the Boston Bruins chose him. He played for the Bruins until the 2005–06 season.
His best season with the Bruins was 2003–04, when he scored 30 points. During the 2004–05 NHL season, there was a lockout, meaning no games were played in the NHL. Nick went to play for the Nottingham Panthers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. He famously scored the tying goal in the British Championship Grand Final.
Moving to New Teams
On June 26, 2006, the Bruins traded Nick to the Phoenix Coyotes. He played two seasons with the Coyotes. Then, in 2008, he was traded to the Florida Panthers. In the 2008-09 season, he played well, scoring 21 points in 68 games. During that season, he missed a few games after an argument with his coach.
In July 2009, Nick signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks. After playing 42 games with the Ducks, he was sent to their minor league team, the Manitoba Moose.
Stanley Cup Win and Retirement
On March 2, 2010, Nick was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. He played for their minor league team, the Rockford IceHogs, before joining the Blackhawks. On June 9, 2010, he achieved a huge goal: he won his first Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks!
On February 26, 2011, the Philadelphia Flyers picked him up. He played ten games with them to finish the 2010–11 season. Nick Boynton retired from professional hockey after that season.

Nick Boynton got married on August 3, 2012, to Jen Boynton. They have two children together. Nick also has two daughters from a previous relationship.
Health and Awareness
Before his first NHL training camp, Nick found out he had Type I Diabetes. This condition did not stop him from playing hockey at a high level. Nick has also talked about the mental and emotional challenges that come with playing in the NHL.
