Nicholas "Nick" Eduardo Alberto Cordero (born September 17, 1978 – died July 5, 2020) was a talented Canadian actor and singer. He was well-known for his amazing performances on Broadway, which is a famous theater district in New York City. Nick was even nominated for a Tony Award, which is a very important award for theater actors. This was for his role as Cheech in the musical Bullets Over Broadway in 2014. He was also nominated for other awards called Drama Desk Awards.
Besides his work on stage, Nick also acted in television shows and movies. Sadly, Nick Cordero passed away at the age of 41 due to problems from COVID-19. He had been in the hospital for over three months.

Growing Up in Canada
Nick Cordero was born and grew up in a city called Hamilton, Ontario, in Canada. His mother was Canadian, and his father was from Costa Rica.
He went to Westdale Secondary School in Hamilton. After high school, he studied at Ryerson University in Toronto for two years. But he decided to leave university to follow his dream of performing. He joined a band called Lovemethod.
Nick's Acting Journey
Nick Cordero started his acting career in a show called The Toxic Avenger. This was an "off-Broadway" show, which means it was performed in smaller theaters outside the main Broadway area.
In 2012, he played the role of Dennis in Rock of Ages on Broadway. He also went on tour with this show.
Broadway Success
In 2014, Nick became very famous on Broadway for his role as Cheech in the musical Bullets Over Broadway. For this role, he was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical and a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical. He also won two other awards: the Outer Critics Circle Award and a Theatre World Award.
In March 2016, Nick joined another Broadway show called Waitress, where he played the character Earl. Later that year, he moved to a new musical called A Bronx Tale. He played the role of Sonny at the Longacre Theatre starting in November 2016. For this part, he was nominated for another Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Musical in 2017.
TV and Film Roles
In 2017, Nick also appeared on the TV show Blue Bloods. He played a character named Victor Lugo in a few episodes. He came back to the show in 2018 for another episode.
In March 2020, Nick moved to Los Angeles to work on a new production of Rock of Ages.
Nick's Family Life
On September 3, 2017, Nick Cordero married a dancer named Amanda Kloots. They had a formal wedding ceremony. In 2019, they welcomed their son into the world.
His Brave Fight and Passing
In March 2020, Nick became very sick while staying with his wife and son. He was first thought to have pneumonia. On March 30, 2020, he was taken to the hospital. There, doctors found out he had COVID-19 during the pandemic.
Nick was in very serious condition. He needed a special machine called a ventilator to help him breathe. He also received other treatments like dialysis and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO).
On April 18, 2020, doctors had to remove his right leg. This was because of a blood clot that formed due to his illness. By May 1, 2020, his lungs were badly damaged, with "holes" and scarring. A tube called a tracheostomy was put into his throat to help him breathe better.
Sadly, on July 5, 2020, after 95 days in the hospital, Nick Cordero passed away at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He was 41 years old.
Remembering Nick
After Nick's passing, people wanted to honor his memory. On July 7, 2020, there was an idea to rename the Longacre Theatre in Manhattan after him.
On September 2, 2021, the Broadway show Waitress paid a special tribute to Nick. His wife, Amanda Kloots, and the cast of the show performed his song "Live Your Life." Also, a special "Live Your Life Pie" became a permanent part of the show's set and story. A video of a rooftop performance of a song from Bullets Over Broadway was also dedicated to him, remembering his role as Cheech.
