Nickelodeon Splat City facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Nickelodeon Splat City was a super fun themed area found inside a few awesome amusement parks! It was at California's Great America (from 1995 to 2002), Kings Island (from 1995 to 2000), and Kings Dominion (from 1995 to 1999). This cool zone was all about your favorite Nickelodeon shows, especially ones like Double Dare. Get ready to get wet and messy, because that's what Splat City was all about!

Awesome Attractions at Splat City

Nickelodeon Splat City was packed with exciting attractions where you could get slimed or soaked. Here are some of the highlights:

Green Slime Zone

Imagine a maze made of pipes! The Green Slime Zone was an attraction where you walked through a maze. Suddenly, water would burst out from the pipes, sometimes even green-tinted water in the early days! This maze is still around at California's Great America. It's now called Snoopy's Splash Dance.

Green Slime Transfer Truck

This was a special truck that looked like it was ready to deliver slime! It had water hoses, video screens, and lots of levers and buttons. When you pressed them, more water would burst out! There was a similar truck at Nickelodeon Studios, but the Splat City one was all about the water fun.

Emergency Slime Shower and Slime Pit

Ever wanted to get slimed? This was your chance! The Emergency Slime Shower would pour green slime on anyone brave enough to pull its lever. It was located right over a big pit of green slime. Slime would often drip down from all sides of the tower, making it extra messy. The one at California's Great America is still there today, just with a fresh coat of paint.

Crystal Slime Aerobic Mining Maze

This attraction was an exciting obstacle course. Think of it like the fun play areas you might see at places like Chuck E. Cheese's, but with a slimy, mining theme!

Big Rig GS-1

The Big Rig GS-1 was a giant oil rig that added to the fun. Every 15 minutes, it would blast out water, soaking anyone nearby! Two of these rigs are still standing today. They have new colors, and one even has a Wild Thornberrys theme.

Slime Bowl Theater

The Slime Bowl was a large theater where you could watch awesome live shows. These shows often featured your favorite Nicktoons characters and exciting game shows. Here's a look at some of the shows that ran in the Slime Bowl Theater:

Mega Mess-a-Mania (1995–1996)

This was a super messy game show! It took ideas from shows like Double Dare, You Can't Do That on Television, and What Would You Do?. The grand finale was the best part: green slime would shoot out from the stage and from three "Slime Towers" right in the audience!

More Mega Mess-a-Mania (1997)

This was the sequel to the first messy show. It had even more games inspired by Nicktoons. You could see characters like Krumm, Ickis, and Oblina from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, and even Angelica from Rugrats!

Nicktoons Block Party (1998)

A brand new show arrived in 1998! It featured games and performances based on the most popular Nicktoons of the time. The stage looked like a big city, and characters would pop out of windows and doors. You could see Tommy, Chuckie, and Angelica from Rugrats, plus Norbert and Daggett from The Angry Beavers.

Nicktoons Rockin Countdown (1999)

This show had a New Year's Eve and Millennium theme. It even had a pretend "ball drop" from the top of a building on stage! There was a new game called "Do Dil's Diapers." The Rugrats and Angry Beavers characters returned, and CatDog even made a special appearance as a "Guest DJ" to teach everyone "The CatDog Scratch."

Nicktoons Summer Jam (2000–2001)

This was an updated version of the previous show, but with a cool summer theme. It had new games based on popular shows. SpongeBob SquarePants made an appearance on stage with Angelica to cheer on the teams. Norbert, Daggett, and CatDog also continued to be part of the fun.

Slimetime Live on Stage (2002)

This show was a live version of the popular TV block. It featured games and segments just like on TV. You could even see SpongeBob SquarePants and Plankton on stage!

Green Slime Mine Cart Coaster

This was a mini roller coaster that was only at California's Great America within the Splat City area. It offered a fun, smaller coaster experience.

Gak Kitchen

The Gak Kitchen was a special area where the Gak and Slime used in the Slime Bowl shows were actually made! Later, in 1997, these kitchens were changed into places where you could meet and greet characters. Tommy, Chuckie, and Angelica from Rugrats often hung out there!
