About Nico Porteous
Early Life and Family
Nico started skiing very young. His parents introduced him to the sport when he was only three years old in France. By the time he was six, he already had a professional coach helping him improve.
Nico was home-schooled for some of his education. He also studied at Christ Church Grammar School in Perth, Australia. Nico has an older brother named Miguel Porteous. Miguel is also a talented freeskier and has competed in the Olympics too!
Amazing Skiing Tricks
When Nico was 14, he achieved something incredible. He became the youngest person in the world to land a "triple cork 1440." This trick involves flipping upside down three times and spinning four full times in the air! While another skier has since done it even younger, it was a huge achievement for Nico.

First Olympic Medal

At 16 years and 91 days old, he became New Zealand's youngest Olympic Games medalist. He broke the record set by Zoi Sadowski-Synnott earlier that same day.
