Nico Segal (born June 25, 1993) is a talented American trumpeter and music producer from Chicago, Illinois. You might also know him by his former stage name, Donnie Trumpet. He's a key member of the hip hop group called Savemoney, working alongside artists like Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa. Nico was also part of a band called Kids These Days before they split up in 2013. Today, he performs with the band The Social Experiment.

Starting with Kids These Days (2009-2013)

In 2009, Nico Segal helped form a band called Kids These Days. Other members included Vic Mensa, Liam Cunningham, Lane Beckstrom, Greg Landfair, Macie Stewart, J. P. Floyd, and Rajiv Halim.

They released their first collection of songs, an extended play (EP) called Hard Times EP, on June 28, 2011. Later, on October 30, 2012, they put out a full-length mixtape called Traphouse Rock.

Nico also released his own mixtape, Illasoul: Shades of Blue, on March 26, 2012. In May 2013, Kids These Days decided to break up. Shortly after, on June 28, 2013, Nico released his solo EP, Donnie Trumpet EP.

Playing with The Social Experiment (2014-Present)

Towards the end of 2013, Nico Segal began performing with Chance the Rapper and a group called The Social Experiment. This group also included Nate Fox, Greg Landfair Jr., and Peter Cottontale.

They released their first album together, Surf, on May 28, 2015. This album was special because it was given away for free on iTunes. In its first week, it was downloaded over 618,000 times!

Nico also helped out on Earth, a live album by famous musician Neil Young and his band Promise of the Real. That album came out on June 17, 2016.

On November 9, 2016, Nico Segal decided to stop using his stage name, Donnie Trumpet. This decision was made after the U.S. Presidential election results were announced.
