Nico Segal, born on June 25, 1993, is a talented American trumpeter and music producer from Chicago, Illinois. He used to be known by his stage name, Donnie Trumpet. Nico is a member of the hip hop group called Savemoney, which includes artists like Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa. He was also part of a band named Kids These Days, which ended in 2013. Currently, he performs with the band the Social Experiment.

Nico Segal's Music Journey

Starting with Kids These Days (2009-2013)

In 2009, Nico Segal helped form the band Kids These Days. Other members included Vic Mensa, Liam Cunningham, Lane Beckstrom, Greg Landfair, Macie Stewart, J. P. Floyd, and Rajiv Halim.

On June 28, 2011, the band released their first collection of songs called Hard Times EP. They also released a full-length mixtape, Traphouse Rock, on October 30, 2012.

Nico Segal released his own first mixtape, Illasoul: Shades of Blue, on March 26, 2012. In May 2013, the band Kids These Days broke up. After that, Nico Segal released his solo collection of songs, Donnie Trumpet EP, on June 28, 2013.

Playing with the Social Experiment (2014-Present)

Towards the end of 2013, Nico Segal started performing with Chance the Rapper and a group called the Social Experiment. This group also included Nate Fox, Greg Landfair Jr., and Peter Cottontale.

Nico Segal released his first album with the Social Experiment, titled Surf, on May 28, 2015. This album was available for free download only on iTunes. It was downloaded over 618,000 times in its first week!

Nico Segal also played on Earth, a live album by Neil Young and Promise of the Real. This album was released on June 17, 2016.

In November 2016, Nico Segal decided to change his stage name. He stopped using "Donnie Trumpet" and now goes by his birth name, Nico Segal.
