A Look at Their History
The Nicomen First Nation's traditional lands are near where the Thompson and Nicoamen Rivers meet. This area was very important during the Fraser Canyon Gold Rush in 1858.
This was a time when many people came looking for gold. Some of the first big gold discoveries happened right here. This also led to disagreements between First Nations miners and American miners, which sadly turned into the Fraser Canyon War in the fall of 1858.
