Fraser Canyon Indian Administration facts for kids
The Fraser Canyon Indian Administration is a special group that helps several First Nations communities in British Columbia, Canada. It's like a team or a council that works together for five different communities located in the beautiful Fraser Canyon and Thompson Canyon areas.
This administration helps these communities with various things, acting as their government. It's one of several groups that represent the Nlaka'pamux people, who are an Indigenous group with a rich history and culture in this region. Some other Nlaka'pamux governments include the Nicola Tribal Association and the Nlaka'pamux Nation Tribal Council. However, the Lytton First Nation, which is a very large Nlaka'pamux community, is not part of any of these three groups.
Member Communities
The Fraser Canyon Indian Administration includes the following First Nations communities:
- Kanaka Bar Indian Band
- Skuppah First Nation (located close to Lytton)
- Spuzzum First Nation
- Nicomen Indian Band (This community is also part of another group called the Scw’exmx Tribal Council.)
