A Pioneer in Mathematics
Niels Erik Nørlund made big contributions to the world of mathematics. He wrote a very important book in 1924. It was called Vorlesungen über Differenzenrechnung. This book was special because it was the first to show how to solve difference equations using complex functions. Think of difference equations as special math puzzles. Nørlund's book helped other mathematicians solve these puzzles in new ways.
