Niko and the Sword of Light is an exciting American animated series made for streaming television. It was created by Amazon Studios and Titmouse, Inc.. The show is based on an animated comic book with the same name.

It first appeared as a special pilot episode on January 15, 2015, on Amazon Video. Because it was so popular, it was later turned into a full series. The series finished its adventure on September 6, 2019.

Story of Niko's Adventure

Meet the Characters

Main Characters and Their Voices

  • Andre Robinson as Niko: Niko is the newest hero chosen to fight the evil sorcerer Nar Est. He is physically the youngest hero because he woke up from his special cocoon too early by accident. Niko is a very excited and brave young boy. He has a pure heart and is always ready for a challenge. He uses the magical Sword of Light to defeat creatures corrupted by darkness. When he purifies them, they return to their normal, good selves.
  • Kari Wahlgren as Lyra: Lyra is the Princess of a human kingdom called Corondale. Her kingdom is trapped inside a magical sphere where time has stopped. This means she has been 14 years old for 768 years! Her job is to guide the heroes, called Champions, as a spirit. She helps them try to defeat Nar Est. When she meets Niko, she tries to keep him safe until he is older. But things happen that make her appear physically in the world to help Niko save everyone. After Nar Est is finally defeated, Lyra becomes the Queen.
  • Dee Bradley Baker as Flicker: Flicker was a cute Buttermonk who was turned into a monster called Zerzes by the Darkness. He accidentally freed Niko from his cocoon early. Flicker is the first dark creature Niko purifies and turns back to normal. He becomes a very loyal and loved friend to Niko and his group. During their journey, Flicker grows bigger and stronger. He can even shoot lasers from his eyes! Eventually, he becomes a large, dragon-like creature that can carry his friends. He can also show others' memories from his eyes like a movie projector.
  • Tom Kenny as Mandok: Mandok is a small, rodent-like Munkchip. He is a bit scared and clumsy, but he is very loyal and sometimes surprisingly wise. He was the one who accidentally woke Niko up too soon. Mandok travels with Niko and Lyra on their quest. He knows a lot about the world and different places, which is very helpful.

Villains and Other Characters

  • Steve Blum as Nar Est: Nar Est is an evil human sorcerer. He took over his king's throne and unleashed a terrible Darkness on the world. He wanted to conquer everything. However, a piece of the Light from the Crystal he corrupted stopped him from taking over completely. This Shard of Light is also the source of his power. Nar Est uses his evil magic to turn creatures and places into scary monsters and dangerous areas. His crow-like bird friend, Rasper, constantly pecks at the sphere holding Corandale. It is later found out that Nar Est is actually a puppet of the Darkness itself, without even knowing it.
  • Jim Cummings as the Narrator, the Darkness, and the Mugwump.
  • Corey Burton as Jackal: Jackal is a mysterious Howlen, who looks like a humanoid dog. The group meets him and becomes friends after a monster attack. At first, he seems like a good ally, but he later shows his true colors. He works for Nar Est and tries to steal Niko's Sword of Light.
  • Hynden Walch as Wispy: Wispy is a small piece of the Darkness that survived being destroyed by the Sword of Light. It helped Nar Est escape from where he was trapped. Wispy tells Nar Est to find the Amulet of Power. This amulet would help the Darkness return and take over the world again.
